About This Program
The Stitch & Style program was created to empower youth in grades 4-12 to discover their creativity and develop essential life skills through the art of sewing. We provide a supportive and inclusive environment where young individuals can learn the fundamentals of sewing, enhance their fine motor skills, and foster independence while pursuing their passions.
We envision a world where every young person has the opportunity to express themselves creatively, build their confidence, and develop practical skills for the future. We believe in the potential of every individual to innovate and inspire, creating an equitable community where access to high-quality arts education and mentorship enables youth to become compassionate, courageous leaders.
Participants will learn essential sewing skills, including machine basics, fabric selection, cutting, stitching, and pressing. These skills not only foster creativity but also enhance fine motor skills and concentration. As students complete their sewing projects, they will gain confidence in their abilities and learn to express themselves creatively.
The program also exposes students to diverse fabrics, styles, and design techniques, fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity within the arts. This exposure helps broaden their horizons and inspire creativity. By partnering with local designers, sewing instructors, and community organizations, Stitch & Style fosters collaboration and community spirit.
