Reel Filmmakers
A summer program for students passionate about storytelling and filmmaking. Learn scriptwriting, cinematography, editing, and sound design while creating your own short film.

About This Program
The Reel Filmmakers program is designed for students who are passionate about storytelling and the art of filmmaking. Students learn the fundamentals of film production, including scriptwriting, cinematography, editing, and sound design.
A key feature of the program is collaboration with creative writing students to develop and film a short film together. Students begin by exploring film genres and storytelling elements, then move into hands-on scriptwriting and storyboarding workshops. They learn camera operation, composition, shot types, and filming techniques before moving into production.
The editing phase covers industry-standard software, teaching cutting, transitions, effects, sound design, color correction, and visual effects. Students also learn the business side of filmmaking, including creating promotional materials, understanding film festivals, and social media marketing strategies.
The program culminates in a screening event where students showcase their films to family and friends, followed by a Q&A session. Students receive certificates and awards for creativity, teamwork, and other achievements. This program aims to inspire young filmmakers, providing them with the tools they need to tell their stories through the medium of film while fostering collaboration and creativity.
